L’Oréal has signed a global advertising deal with the Girls Aloud singer and X Factor judge Cheryl Cole that will initially see her front the launch of a range of beauty products targeting UK women.

Cole, who has been signed on an initial one-year deal, is the first British woman to be signed by L’Oreal Paris since a young Kate Moss in 1998.

“I have always loved the brand and have always wanted to say the iconic phrase ‘because you’re worth it’ so to be given that opportunity is absolutely amazing,” said Cole. “Every woman has the right to feel beautiful and L’Oréal Paris makes that aspiration achievable”.

CHERYLS POOL PLANS BANNED

Posted in Rumours on August 23, 2009 by makesmewanna29

CHERYL Cole wants to ban fans ogling her in a bikini. She and hubby Ashley have told planners they need to build an underground swimming pool because they are so famous.

The pair, worth an estimated £17million, want a 12×5metre pool with a gym, spa, sauna and steam room six metres underground.

But council chiefs have blocked the scheme at their £3.5million Surrey estate saying it would eat into the green belt.

An appeal document says the underground pool would stop the celebs being snapped in skimpy swimwear by aircraft.

It goes on to say they would be plagued by fans if they used a public gym and that it is essential they work out for their jobs. A source said: “They are using every argument they can to try to push this through.

“But by bringing up their celebrity status they are leaving themselves open to accusations of ‘one rule for us and one for them’.

“I understand they get a lot of attention but rules are rules.”

Ad while Cheryl, 26, is keen to change her multi-million pound pad, the X Factor judge revealed she wasn’t so sure about altering the hit show’s format, with wannabes auditioning in front of a live public audience.

She said: “I’d just found my feet with the show and then they go and change the format.

“I felt the rug was pulled from under my feet. But thankfully I really enjoyed the new process.”

A 16-year-old boy from Scotland tries to impress Cheryl Cole on The X Factor by singing one of her own Girls Aloud hits.

In a scene from tomorrow night’s show, Kyle Campbell from Salcourt tells the judges that he loves the girl group and will sing their Top 20 single ‘Untouchable’.

However, before he starts performing, judge Simon Cowell interrupts him and says: “We don’t like that Girls Aloud song.”

Campbell replies: “I picked the song because I like it.”

Cole then encourages Campbell to sing the cover, later praising his “great taste in music”.

Other performers on tomorrow’s show include past contestants Duane Lamonte and Emma Chawner, Irish twins John and Edward and triplets Triple Trouble.

CHERYLS MY PAL BUT DANNI WORKS HARDER

EXCLUSIVE: BEHIND THE SCENES WITH SIMON.. ON FRIENDS, FEUDS & FAME

It’s the dream team judging panel, and they’re back with a mission – to find the next big thing in music. Acid-tongued judge Simon Cowell will step back into his role as telly’s Mr Nasty for the sixth series of The X Factor this Saturday.

And the man who’s launched some of the world’s biggest TV talent shows and singing stars says he couldn’t be happier to have such a dynamic team alongside him.

And Simon is delighted Cheryl Cole – last year’s winning judge with Alexandra Burke in her debut year after replacing Sharon Osbourne – is back for a second series as he felt an immediate bond with her.

The pair, who sat next to each other, were even snapped on a sneaky cigarette break together during filming earlier this month. “We instantly became friends,” explains Simon, 49. “We really, really got on well. Cheryl likes hanging out with me in the dressing rooms.”

Meanwhile Dannii Minogue, he says, “likes to keep more to herself”.

He adds: “Cheryl has been a revelation. She’s really come to the show with an attitude and style all her own.”

However, he says, despite his connection with the Geordie Girls Aloud star, it’s Dannii who’s the hardest-working judge when it comes to mentoring her final acts. Cheryl may have won with Alex last year, but Dannii had already scooped the best act with Scots crooner Leon Jackson a year earlier.

“There was a lot of focus on Cheryl last year,” says Simon. “But Dannii’s so obsessive about winning and I like that.”

FEAR FACTOR

NERVES AT SINGING SOLO FOR JUDGES

Cheryl Cole should have lots of sympathy for the next batch of X Factor wannabes – she’s about to face the judges herself.

Simon Cowell is giving Cheryl the chance to showcase her debut solo single on the hit ITV talent contest.

The 26-year-old is still in talks with show bosses about her first public performance without the rest of Girls Aloud. But her advisers think she should go for it.

And if she’s put off by fears of facing the wrath (and sniping) of the judging panel she can rest easy. Simon, Louis Walsh and Dannii Minogue all support her venture.

Cheryl’s friends say she is excited but nervous about the prospect of singing in front of the team and a live studio audience – even though that’s exactly how she won her place in Girls Aloud.

A source tells us: “It is a no-brainer for Cheryl to launch her solo career on the show. When she told Simon her album was due out next month, he said she must do the show.

“Girls Aloud performed last year when their single Promise was in the charts. But this will be a totally different experience for Cheryl – she won’t have the others for support.

“She is nervous because she will be performing for her peers – and there is always the fear that Simon may say something catty.

“But so far he has been nothing but supportive. Cheryl can do no wrong in his eyes and he wouldn’t want to humiliate her.

“It’s a safe environment for her debut and they will want her to look outstanding.”

Cheryl herself has said: “I understand how the contestants are feeling – especially when they’re singing in front of us. And this year in front of an audience of 2,000!”

Her winning act from last year’s contest, 20-year-old Alexandra Burke, will also be performing on one of the shows.

Ironically, Alex and her former mentor will also be going head to head in the charts – both have albums due out in the same month.

An industry insider tells us: “It will be interesting to see who gets the most viewers. This has never happened before so it’ll be strange seeing them going head to head.

“They aren’t keen on competing. They want each other to do well.”

So, no added pressure there then, Chezza.

CHERYL’S X FACTOR Q&A

Posted in Interviews, X Factor on August 19, 2009 by makesmewanna29

Cheryl-Cole

What kind of judge are you?

I think I’m at a slight advantage to the other judges as I’ve been in the process before so maybe I can be more considerate at times. I understand how the contestants are feeling, especially when they’re singing in front of us and this year in front of an audience of 2,000!

What do you look for in an audition?

I know it sounds cheesy but I look for the full package – someone with The X Factor. I look for someone with a bit of sparkle about them, someone with the whole package as opposed to someone with just a good voice and nothing else
about them.

What do you enjoy most about the audition
stages?

I really enjoyed the auditions but this year the whole process has been different. I wasn’t sure how I felt about the changes at first. The new look auditions benefit not only the acts but also us, as the audience let us know if they think differently to us about an act and sometimes we change our mind. It’s great for us as judges because we get to see
how an act can handle performing on stage to a crowd earlier in the competition process and they get this fantastic opportunity to perform on stage. It’s so much more exciting, people really have the chance to shine and show us earlier what they’re made of.

Are you happy with the new look auditions?

I’d just found my feet with the show as last year was my first year and then they go and change the format! I felt the rug was pulled from under my feet with the changes but thankfully I’ve really enjoyed the new process, it works so well. We, as judges are also judged now on what we say and think, if we don’t like an act but the audience do – they certainly let us know about it!

What are the most memorable auditions this
year?

We had a male rocker who was AMAZING! He totally blew everyone away on stage, the audience buzz during and after his performance was electric. We also had a guy who came on and sang a ballad and he created the same kind of audience buzz.

Do you feel that the fact you were once a contestant on a similar show helps you to judge auditions with a clearer understanding of how they’re feeling?

I feel this year I’m more experienced as a judge and in saying no. I struggled at first last year in saying no to people, i think i may have been giving false hope. This year, I’ve learned more, I’m more able to say no to people that don’t have what we’re looking for and I don’t feel as bad.

Who on the Judging panel do you find you mostly agree with?

I hate to say this but I tend to agree with Simon but at the same time, I’m more than happy to disagree with him! We all try to keep our own opinions and most of the time they’ll all be different, we are all very individual judges. When I’m on the Judging panel I enjoy listening to the contestants talk before and after their performance. It’s always interesting to hear what they have to say and it’s during this time that their personality can really come across.

Which category would you like to mentor this year and why?

Looking back at the auditions, I can honestly say I don’t mind which category I get this year. I obviously love the girls, the whole process of being ‘girlie’, the clothes, the styling etc. I will try my best with whatever category I get this year and i always give it my very best.

In your view what is The X Factor?

It’s something you can’t describe, Alex had it for me – that sparkle, the performance, the vocal, the personality, she had it all.

Will the rest of Girls Aloud be helping you out again behind the scenes?

I don’t have any choice in the matter, the girls absolutely love the show and all have their own opinions on everything and always let me know what they’re thinking!

What’s Alexandra been up to since last year?

She’s been in the US working on her new album, she absolutely loves everything that has happened to her since she won the show last year. She has this amazing enthusiasm for everything, she’s like an excited bunny rabbit, it’s so nice to see, I think her new album will be massive.
